EKU Marketing Students Host Professional Sales Mentoring Mixer

The personal selling class (Marketing 310) ended the semester on a high note as students hosted a group of professional sales mentors in a networking mixer on May 12. Eleven mentors took time out of their day to join the class during their final exam period.

PGM Seniors Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

On Friday, May 13th, outstanding seniors from the PGA Professional Golf Management program were recognized for their achievements at the 2016 Senior Reception, held at the Mule Barn at the University Club at Arlington.

One hundred people were in attendance for the event, including friends and family of the students recognized for awards or graduation.

2016 S.J. Garner Student Excellence Award goes to Craig Hicks

EKU's PGA Golf Management program is pleased to announce that Craig Hicks has been selected as recipient of the S.J. Garner Student Excellence Award for 2015-16. Craig is a senior Marketing, PGA Professional Golf Management major from Aylett, Va. He received the award at the PGA Golf Management spring awards reception in April.

Giaccini Receives PGM 2016 Director's Award

Senior Stefanie Giaccini from Richmond received the 2016 Director’s Award for service and dedication to Eastern Kentucky University's PGA Golf Management program for the academic year. She received the award at the PGA Golf Management spring awards ceremony in April.

Kincer Cup Goes to the North Team for the 2nd Consecutive Year

North and South teams vie for Kincer Cup

May 6th marked the Kincer Cup competition hosted by EKU’s Professional Golf Management (PGM) program. The Kincer Cup is named after EKU’s PGM Director, Ms. Kim Kincer.

This one-day event allows 24 of the top point earning students from both the fall and spring semester tour events to battle for bragging rights in a 36-hole, North vs. South team match-up.

Karlee Tanel came upon EKU with the help of her mom. Being from Wisconsin, she did not think EKU was an obvious option until her mom, an EKU graduate, offered to take her on a trip to visit some schools in the South.

When they came to EKU on Spotlight Day, Karlee fell in love with the campus. Everyone on campus was very welcoming and that made it feel like home.

Teams Win Cash Prizes at Idea State U

Their product is called Simple Circle, but it took hours of painstaking work to propel a trio of Eastern Kentucky University PGA Professional Golf Management students to a third-place finish, and a $10,000 prize, in the business plan division of the recent Idea State U competition.

Ms. Maggie Abney is an experienced banker, and Ms. Laura Barthel is a seasoned entrepreneur. Throughout the semester, Abney’s Entrepreneurial Finance (FIN 310) collaborates with Barthel’s Entrepreneurship (CCT 270).
