EKU's Department of Management, Marketing and International Business is pleased to announce its outstanding seniors for the 2016-17 academic year. The students will be recognized by faculty and peers at the 2017 College to Careers Conference, on Friday, April 21, in the Business and Technology Center Rogow Auditorium.
Graduating seniors are nominated by faculty. Recipients are selected based on superior academic achievement coupled with excellent leadership, citizenship, character, and service.

- Karlee A. Tanel (Cedarburg, Wi.) — Management, Minor in Spanish

The departmental distinguished senior selected from among this group is Sam Wadell. Wadell has been nominated for the College of Business and Technology 2016-2017 Distinguished Senior Award. The recipient will beselected from among the five distinguished seniors recognized by the faculty in various college departments and programs.
According to department chair, Dr. Lana Carnes, "By all measures, Sam is a very deserving student who has maintained his focus on academic success both in- and outside the classroom. Sam has been a risk taker - stepping out of his comfort zone to study abroad for a semester in Spain followed by a summer in Austria." She continued, "Sam has also provided service to MMIB, EKU, and the Richmond Community."
Wadell shared a highlight of his EKU experience, “Utilizing my second language, I was able to assist in Dr. Awang’s and MMIB’s efforts to internationalize MMIB’s website by providing the Spanish translation in order to attract a more diverse student base and offer the site in as many languages as possible. I’ve also helped give back to the local Richmond community by volunteering with the Latino Student Association’s Actividades Bilingües. At Actividades Bilingües we work with the local Latino Community, individuals and businesses, to build language skills, cultural togetherness, and life-skills. These weekly meetings have opened my eyes to the beautiful diversity here in our own EKU and Richmond community. Seeing the impact that I can have on my immediate community gives me great aspirations for the future ahead to give back to a world that has given me so much.”
The department also announced its distinguished alum for 2016-17. Mr. Todd Mullins is a 1994 EKU graduate with a BBA in Administrative Communication Services. He is currently National Account Manager at Valvoline, Ashland, Inc. Mullins, who will bring the keynote address to MMIB seniors for their morning session, will also be recognized on April 21st.
