MMAC selects Jamie Linkous as 2009 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Management, Marketing and Administrative Communication is pleased to announce that Mr. Jamie Linkous has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2009. Departmental Distinguished Senior, Kalyn Fox, spoke for Mr. Linkous who was unable to attend.
Mr. Linkous was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 3, 2009, at the annual College of Business and Technology Professional Skills Conference senior recognition luncheon.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Mr. Linkous earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from EKU in 1995.
He is currently Vice President of Human Resources at Concept Packaging Group in Georgetown, Kentucky. Concept Packaging Group is a corrugated/plastics specialty packager employing more than 450 employees over the southeastern United States region.
In the newly created position of human resources vice president, Mr. Linkous is responsible for all human resources functions across the entire organization. He was recruited to the position to streamline and create policies from across two regions into one company wide program. Program development included realigning benefits calendar years, implementing new health programs and streamlining all benefit programs such as medical, dental, supplemental, health savings accounts, and Flex spending programs. He also developed a corporate leadership training program that would ensure consistent leadership models across the organization.
Mr. Linkous possesses a wealth of experience in the non-union manufacturing sector having worked his way up from his first job as human resource generalist at LINPAC Materials Handling. Over the next few years, he was quickly promoted and recruited by Walle Corporation, Liquid Container Corporation, and finally to Concept Packaging Group.
His love of learning and continuous improvement is reflected in achievement of the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He has also served as an instructor of the Society for Human Resources Management Learning Series at the University of Kentucky and is an OSHA authorized instructor.
He is a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management, has served as past president and board member for the Bluegrass SHRM, and is past president of the Bluegrass Compensation Association.
Congratulations, Mr. Linkous, on being selected as the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus representing the Department of Management, Marketing and Administrative Communication.
The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology.
