MMAC selects Bill White as 2007 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Management, Marketing and Administrative Communication is pleased to announce that Mr. N. William White has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2007.
Mr. White was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 6, 2007, at the annual College of Business and Technology Professional Skills Conference senior recognition luncheon.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Mr. White is the President and Chief Executive Officer of 1st Independence Financial Group, Inc. and the President and CEO of 1st Independence Bank in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to assuming his current positions, Mr. White was the Founder, President and CEO of Independence Bancorp and the President and CEO of Independence Bank in New Albany, Indiana. These companies later merged with Harrodsburg First Financial Bancorp to form what is now known as 1st Independence.
Before starting Independence Bancorp, Mr. White held various senior management positions with the last of Kentucky’s three largest independent banks: Bank of Louisville, Great Financial Bank, and Liberty National Bank. At Bank of Louisville he was Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Sales. He had similar responsibilities with Great Financial where he was First Vice President in charge of Retail Sales and Business Development for all of their branches statewide. In addition, he managed their $1 billion Louisville region of branches. When he left Liberty National, Mr. White was one of the youngest Senior Vice Presidents in their history.
Mr. White is a certified Professional Selling Skills facilitator. He was the College of Business and Technology Distinguished Speaker last fall and also serves on the EKUBusiness Advisory Council. He is also a member of the EKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni.
Congratulations, Mr. White, on being selected as the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus representing the Department of Management, Marketing, and Administrative Communication.
The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology. Ms. Marci Zellen was selected as the MMAC departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2006-07 academic year were recognized. Students were honored for outstanding achievement and more than 40 area employers were on hand to engage in networking activities with college graduating seniors.
