EKU SAM Students Bring Home Second from National Case Competition

Sam McQueen and Jimmy Bennett

EKU’s Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) did well in representing the university this year. This year’s team won second place in the Las Vegas competition held March 29 to April 1.  Last year the team placed third in the international SAM Case Competition Conference in Orlando, Fl.

Two students, Samuel McQueen (senior from Tyner, Ky.) and Jimmy Bennett, competed against over 20 teams in the national undergraduate competition.  Bennett, a senior from Hokkaido, Japan (now residing in Lexington), said, "Samuel and I worked great as a team and the effort we put into this project reflected our results well."

“The team did a fantastic job researching the industry and presenting very in-depth recommendations,” said Dr. Zhe Zhang, assistant professor of management and the faculty advisor for EKU's SAM chapter.

SAM promotes interaction with professionals in all disciplines and increases awareness and knowledge of career opportunities. It encourages cross-functional participation in activities that will benefit students' choice of career and future success.
