Mullins Selected MMIB 2016-17 Distinguished Alum

EKU's Department of Management, Marketing and International Business is pleased to announce its distinguished alum for 2016-17. Mr. Todd Mullins will be recognized by faculty and students at the 2017 College to Careers Conference, on Friday, April 21, in the Business and Technology Center Rogow Auditorium.

Mullins, a 1994 EKU graduate with a BBA in Administrative Communication Services, is National Account Manager at Valvoline, Ashland, Inc. He has risen in the ranks at Valvoline, Ashland, Inc. during his more than 20-year career. Mullins has served as a franchise training coordinator, distributor sales representative, operations manager for 80 independent franchisees, and national account manager.

According to department chair, Dr. Lana Carnes, "He is another example for our students of a person who has had a dynamic career, moving across various areas of business as opportunities have arisen. I believe he will have an inspirational story to share with our seniors."

After his April 21 keynote address, Mullins will meet with MMIB faculty for an informal discussion  about preparing students for the ever-changing business workplace. EKU Provost Dr. Janna Vice, who is Mullins’ long-time mentor, coach, and friend, plans to be on hand at the faculty sessions.

The department also named outstanding seniors for the academic year. Graduating seniors are nominated by faculty. Recipients are selected based on superior academic achievement coupled with excellent leadership, citizenship, character, and service.

  • Jason C. Banta (Pleasureville, Ky.) — Business and Marketing Education
  • Samuel J. Wadell (Shepherdsville, Ky.) — General Business, International Business Concentration
  • Karlee A. Tanel (Cedarburg, Wi.) — Management, Minor in Spanish
  • Raymond L. Moehlman (Erlanger, Ky.) — Marketing, Professional Golf Management Concentration

A departmental distinguished senior will be selected from among this group to be nominated for the College of Business and Technology 2016-2017 Distinguished Senior. The recipient is selected from among the five distinguished seniors recognized by the faculty in various college departments and programs.

For the eleventh consecutive year EKU’s PGA Golf Management program participated in the PGA Merchandising Show. Several students from the PGM program traveled to Orlando, Fl., to attend the tradeshow from January 22-27.

The PGA Merchandising Show is the largest tradeshow dedicated to a single sport. Approximately 1,000 major industry brands were represented, including companies like Nike, Titleist, and TaylorMade.

2017 Supply Chain Executive Speaker Series Features Ben Robinson

Ben Robinson speaks to EKU School of Business students

EKU's Global Supply Chain Management program is pleased to announce its 2017 Executive Speaker.

Mr. Ben Robinson, Senior Sales Executive with C.H. Robinson Logistic, will visit EKU's School of Business on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017. He will speak in the Business and Technology Center Rogow Auditorium during the 11:00 a.m. class period to students, faculty, and staff.

Robinson graduated from EKU in 1989 with a degree in political science, minoring in business, and has worked most of his career in supply chain logistics services. His career spans multiple global firms including Consolidated Freightways, Emery Worldwide, UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Corning Incorporated, and now C.H. Robinson.

According to Executive-in-Residence Kirby Easterling, "We are excited to welcome Ben Robinson back to campus for our ongoing Supply Chain Executive Speaker Series. Ben is very professional, and I think most students will find his career journey very compelling - particularly in that it cuts heavily across both marketing and supply chain."

CH Robinson was founded in 1905 and is one of the world’s largest global logistics companies with over $13.5B in annual sales (NASDAQ: CHRW). The company specializes in selling supply chain services to firms that have elected to outsource their global logistics operations.

The event is free and open the public. All majors are welcome to attend. Bring your questions for Mr. Robinson and seek out advice - especially if you are an upcoming School of Business graduate.
